The Breast Cancer and Environment Research Centers (BCERC)

Environmental Effects on the Molecular Architecture and Function of the Mammary Gland across the Lifespan

The Breast Cancer and Environment Research Centers (BCERC) is a seven-year project funded by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and the National Cancer Institute to study the impact of prenatal-to-adult environmental exposures on breast cancer risk. This multi-institution consortium of basic scientists, epidemiologists, research translational units, and community advocates is investigating mammary gland development in animals and young girls to determine susceptibility to environmental agents associated with subsequent breast cancer development.
